SALUS a mare
Pescara, Italy

TYPE:
Seaside Lounge Bar
AREA: 210m²="caption"> YEAR: 2005
Taking advantage of an existing seaside construction by turning it into a polymorphic restaurant and bar area was owner’s original concept.
The existing storehouse gives its place to the food preparation area while an outside bar, public toilets, a covered restaurant area and an outdoor spa are added. According to national law, the new facilities should not be solid constructions but should be detachable, made of environmental friendly materials that are also resistant to the sun and sea.
The solution was given by a wooden “wave” consisted of parallel beams, which while it is a building element, it simultaneously shades the spaces. Vertical and horizontal glass surfaces enclose tight the various spaces.
